The D'Holder My Knife may be said to define D’Holder Custom Knives.
D designed and made the first My Knife in 1972 for his own use. The My Knife was the first custom knife to use Amber as a handle material, and it is the most recognized custom knife in the world.
The D’Holder My Knife has undergone some minor changes over time; however it remains one model that D cannot make enough of to this day.
Earlier My Knives had three Amber spacers, and, the humpback handle of the earlier My Knives (shaped primarily to accommodate the Amber available at that time) has been refined.
Later My Knives have only two Amber spacers and a straighter top line in the handle area. Some My Knives have file work atop the blade.
The blade configuration may vary from knife to knife (most are Drop Point, but some are Clip Blade or other blade styles). The overall handle configuration and appearance remains constant to the My Knife.
It may be said that there are five variations of D’s My Knife. There is the Miniature at about 6 ½” overall length, the Mini at about 7 ½” overall length, the regular My Knife at about 8 ½” overall length, the My Knife XL at about 9” overall length and the My Knife Super XL or XXL at about 10” overall length. The constant use of " at about " is because of the variances that can been found (no two knives are likely to be exactly alike).
D's well known "My Knife" is the most recognized and copied hand made knife in the world. Some other D'Holder knife models are: Big Dog; Hardenbrook; Drop Point Hunter; D'Angler; Finger Groove Hunter and Clip Point Hunter. All these different models can be seen fom time-to-time on my Gallery pages.
